About

Bagdok Adventures is my personal and travel blog. “BAGDOK” is my nick name when I was at a very young age. The word “Bagdok” is a Bisaya term which is associated with “bet” a huge amount of bet in “Jai Alai.” That was long ago though, and looking back this is the name that I despised. Maybe, you would ask why? Certainly because it was just given to me by my neighbors who are addicted to that vice—Jai Alai…There was even an instance in my life where I hoped and told myself—one day my family would move from that place to another place. Then, I would find new set of friends, new set of neighbors who would never call me the same nickname—So it did happen…Now people call me “Alex”, “Lexxuz”, “Lex” but they never knew who I was around the people whom I grow up with. However, remembering those days tickles my playful mind and thought of transforming that name into a useful vehicle for change.

Brief Information:

I started studying my elementary at Malim Elementary School. That was where I was born. Then my family migrated and decided to settle down here in Iligan City. I continue my studies and graduated my elementary at Tomas Ll. Cabili Elementary School now Tomas Ll. Cabili Central School. After graduated in elementary with flying colors, I continued my High School in Iligan City National High School (ICNHS) Night Department in the year 1999. Back in high school I excel on my academics and even active in extra curricular activities. The war in Kauswagan, Lanao del Norte in the early summer of 2004 became the reason why that school year was not finished. But everybody passed that year. During my high school years, I became popular in our Department and become no.2 in rank of the student. I was an active debater in 2003, and together with my team mates Jordana Achacoso and my closed friend German Gordove won second runner up in the 5th All-Iligan Intervarsity Debating Championship held in Mindanao State University-Iligan Institute of Technology that became my Alma Mater in the following years. I graduated as a salutatorian that same year, that opened me a lot of scholarship opportunities, but failed to take advantage of them as my family has no plan of sending me to college. I passed the MSU-SASE exam and was given the chance to take BS-Physics, but I decided not to enroll because of financial problem until the second semester of 2003. I decided to take up a preparatory course which at that time has a favorable time schedule for me to work and earn while studying. I started my college years in MSU-IIT as a General Education student while working during the day time in a family in Ditucalan. After finishing my two years in Gen-Ed I decided to take up AB Political Science in the same institute. Two years later I earned my degree in Political Science with my thesis title “The Mandulog-Bayug Watershed Management Program of DENR-CENRO, Iligan City (2004-2006). Eager to earn some amount of money, I moved to Cebu to look for a job but things were not so easy. When the time I got accepted from a job which I applied, I got sick and decided to go home. It took me years to recover from that sickness that almost I lost hope. While trying to get well, I decided my career as a student pursuing further studies. I decided to study Masters in Business Management to foster growth for myself and my family, realizing the fact that most of the Filipinos are thought and even motivated to become workers but not to become businessmen – boss of their own enterprise. While studying, I stumble upon with friends working as a social media marketer and bloggers. Later, joined the Iligan Bloggers Society Inc. I became one of the working committee of the Mindanao Bloggers Summit 2011 held at Celadon Pension Hse, while working on my master’s thesis.

I do maintain some blogs that promotes Iligan City as a tourist destination “www.chooseiligancity.com, business: rearview101.blogspot.com.
